EXPELLED

Last night Dan and I went to see Expelled in Gainesville. It is definitely a movie worth seeing for teens and adults. The audience at our showing varied widely in age. The movie itself was not light fare. The movies purpose was not to push a certanin dogma but simply to allow for open discussion of ideas. Here is review from Answers In Genesis that you might find helpful.

Honorable Mention

CONGRATULATIONS TO JOSEPH and NEHEMIAH who received an Honorable Mention in Toshiba's Exploravision Contest. The boys "invented" a SuperEraser and submitted research reports and drawings for the website they designed. They were told that their entry was in the top ten percent of all the entries in the country. We thank the Lord for the ability to teach and learn at home and for all his blessings on us.

5K

On April 5, we all particpated in a 5K benefiting the Equal Access Clinic in Gainesville. Our friend Kelcee Griffis came with us. The race began at 8:30 in the morning. The weather was beautiful for it, very cool and overcast. About 250 people came out for it. Everyone ran except Mama, Ezra, and Anna. At the end, there was plenty of breakfast food for all the runners. There were also free smoothies from Planet Smoothie. Daniel, Noah, and Elijah each earned a trophy. The boys are a bit sore but all looking forward to the next 5K.

Our family is working on memorizing this passage of Scripture. We read it each day aloud and spend about 5 to 10 minutes each day working on reciting it. Several of the boys have already memorized most of it.

The Armor of God
Ephesians 6:10-18

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
